Legislation Passes Act to Study Child Poverty in California
Legislation sponsored by GRACE and the GRACE End Child Poverty California Institute in 2017 (AB 1520, Burke) created the statewide Lifting Children and Families Out of Poverty Task Force, which brought together California leaders inside and outside of government. In 2018, the Task Force released the “The Lifting Children and Families Out of Poverty Task Force Report” with recommendations for eliminating deep child poverty in four years. These comprehensive recommendations will eliminate deep child poverty by 50%. They will also reduce overall child poverty in our state while working to break the cycles of intergenerational poverty. The End Child Poverty Plan is research-based, community-informed, and achievable. For an abbreviated version of the plan click HERE.
