Sandra M. Sanchez has an extensive background working in government and politics. She served as Chief of Staff to State Assemblyman Warren T. Furutani where she was responsible for the overall strategy to advance the Assemblyman’s legislative priorities including measures to increase career technical education and workforce development for high school and college students, advancing pension reform measures, and improving air quality.
As a political consultant, Sanchez helped to elect some of California’s leading voices in education, environmental protection, civil rights, consumer protection, and strengthening the social safety net. She served as campaign manager for Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, Secretary of State Debra Bowen, State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, former Assemblyman Warren T. Furutani and former Congresswoman Jane Harman. She also served as fundraising consultant to Jackie Lacey, Los Angeles County District Attorney, who is the first female and first African American District Attorney ever elected in Los Angeles County.
Sanchez also worked with the United Food and Commercial Workers union on a variety of projects including managing communications for their 2007 Southern California Grocery Contract campaign, which resulted in a successful contract without repeating the devastating strike of 2003-04.
Prior to her work in government and politics, Sanchez worked at the American Heart Association as Vice President of Corporate Events where she helped to raise almost $2 million through the American Heart Walk Los Angeles events.
Sanchez received her B.A. in English from Loyola Marymount University where she graduated with honors.
